Quick Start: Add Your First Monitor in Pulsely

Uptime monitoring with second-level precision. Get your first endpoint tracked in under three minutes.

Why Monitor from Day One?

Downtime costs an average of $5,600 per minute for mid-sized SaaS platforms. Pulsely eliminates blind spots by pinging your endpoints every 30 seconds from six global locations. This guide walks you through account setup, URL registration, and interval configuration so you can catch outages before your users do.

No complex DNS records or server-side agents required. Pulsely operates entirely client-side via our cloud probes in Frankfurt, Ashburn, Singapore, and Sydney. You only need a valid endpoint and a working email for alert delivery.

Step-by-Step Setup

Step 01

Create Your Workspace

Navigate to app.pulsely.io and click Sign Up. Enter your work email, verify via the confirmation link, and name your first workspace (e.g., "Acme Corp Production"). The free tier includes up to five active monitors and daily status page updates.

Step 02

Register Your Endpoint

From the dashboard, select Add Monitor > HTTP(S). Paste your live URL (e.g., https://api.acme-corp.io/v2/health). Set a custom request header if your API requires authentication, such as `X-API-Key: prod_live_8f3a2c`. Pulsely will perform an initial handshake to validate response codes and SSL certificate validity.

Step 03

Set Check Intervals & Alerts

Choose your polling frequency. We recommend 30 seconds for critical payment gateways and 60 seconds for static marketing sites. Enable Instant Slack & PagerDuty notifications under Alert Rules. Define a maintenance window to suppress false positives during scheduled deployments on Tuesdays at 02:00 UTC.

Pro Tips for Reliable Monitoring

Configure your monitors correctly to avoid alert fatigue and maximize data accuracy.

Endpoint Selection

Target Health Checks, Not Homepages

Point monitors to lightweight `/ping` or `/status` routes instead of heavy index pages. This reduces timeout false positives and keeps response time baselines under 120ms.

Alert Routing

Tier Your Notification Channels

Route critical 5xx errors to PagerDuty for immediate on-call escalation. Send 4xx client errors and latency spikes to a dedicated #uptime-slack channel for engineering review during business hours.

Data Retention

Leverage Historical Uptime Logs

Pulsely retains 90 days of granular probe data on all plans. Export CSV reports monthly to track SLA compliance and identify recurring network congestion patterns in specific regions.
